Lionel Messi is enjoying one of his best performances in a season in his 10-year senior career with Barcelona. This season, he became both La Liga and the Champions League’s all-time highest goalscorer, as well as the player with the most hat-tricks in the history of Spanish football.

I don't know. But this little man surprises me again and again. I was able to watch Roger Federer live. I was able to watch Messi live a couple times. And I cannot find any words. It was breathtaking when I attended the game against Sevilla in last November. His hat-trick, the crowd reaction and just the pure joy watching him perform on this level is beyond everything.

If you can - try to book a vacation in Barcelona and figure a way out to see him live. Those memories will last forever.

And as for the stats. I have no words left. He does make it look easy when it's not. And he is not on this level just for 1-2 years. He rules football pitches since years now. And there is no end in sight...

Simply incredible. Thanks Adil and the stats guys to create such an awesome piece!

Really nicely written, Adil! Congrats on your first article. I can't wait to see what else you'll write.

First name: Greatest
Last name: Ever

I saw Barcelona play against Club America (Mexican League) in Houston,Texas (Reliant Stadium) and it was a night to remember! 4-4 final, but the way Barca managed to come back from 4-1 deficit, and of course Ronaldinho brilliance made it a night to remember! Hopefully, I'll be able to witness Barca play at the Camp Nou! Messi is the Greatest Ever, and I hope to witness what so many culers have.... one day! <3 Visca Barca!!!!

FC Barcelona vs America 4-4

Nice I only got to see Ronaldinho in friendly when he still played at PSG. Didn't have the money to travel to Barcelona back in those days. Poor student life. And I do regret that.

In the words of Johan Cruyff, Gracias a Dios Messi Existe (Thank God, Messi Exists) <3

Thanks my friend. I definitly plan to visit the Camp Nou and Barcelona soon, and maybe Messi will be as kind to me - as he was with me - and gift me an official hattrick in one of those magical nights of his, after I was lucky to witness one of his friendlies hattrick in Morocco.

Great article. and a readable summary of statistics! I can now refer this to all my friends who use stats to come to a judgement about a player. (British people are obsessed with statistics).
As of Messi..I have literally ran out of adjectives to describe the guy. Genius doesn't seem apt enough. My first visit to the Camp nou was a visit to an empty pitch, hopefully sometime next season my next trip will be to watch an actual game (and hopefully see the legend himself in action)!!!!

That's the problem with Messi: words can't describe his greatness, numbers can't do him justice!
